I recently Posted a couple of articles on PCextreme a tech blog which a contribute to.

Which are about Registry Hacks on Vista especially on the Windows Explorer Right-Click Menu.

This is how to add a COPY TO / MOVE TO FOLDER

Making your Windows Explorer’s Right-Click Menu is gem of hack it’s a plus in productivity factor. The Copy To Folder and/or Move To Folder a useful yet hidden functionality that can only be discovered by the way of registry hack. (Remember to backup your registry before doing the hack).

Copy To Folder Registry Hack

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run -> type Regedit
  3. Once Regedit is up and running (remember to do a backup first)
  4. Look for this key
    • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
  5. Right click and choose the New Key option
  6. Double-click on the (Default) value and enter the following
    • {C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}
  7. Click OK and continue.

Move To Folder Registry Hack

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run -> type Regedit
  3. Once Regedit is up and running (remember to do a backup first)
  4. Look for this key
    • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
  5. Right click and choose the New Key option
  6. Double-click on the (Default) value and enter the following
    • {C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}
  7. Click OK and continue.

Next Step would be to add a ENCRYPT / DECRYPT on the Windows Explorer’ Right-Click Menu

Make the Windows Explorer a bit smarter by adding all sorts of stuff to use. If you use the built in Windows Vista File Encryption then you’d definitely like this hack and put in on your Windows Explorer right-click menu.

Encrypt and Decrypt Files easily in Windows Explorer with this hack simply by right-clicking on it.

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. On the Run Box, type Regedit
  4. Look for this key
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
  5. Create a new 32-bit DWORD value and label it EncryptionContextMenu with a value of 1

Now Encrypting and Decrypting files is a breeze, when you encrypt a file using the right-click on your Windows Explorer, the the option to encrypt or decrypt would change depending on the status of the file. If it’s encrypted an option would come out as decrypt and vice versa. Enjoy this useful hack, and plus factor in security.
