Windows Vista : Compatibility Issues
I recently installed a game in my laptop after finding the CD of DOOM3 under my bed, and thoughts come back to my mind One of my favorite game, when the world of PC gaming was still young. And that game is called DOOM, oh yeah…i still remember playing DOOM back in my high school years…playing at night with all the lights closed… this game still scares the crap out of me…
ok back to the task up hand… as I’ve recently installed DOOM3 earlier. Installation was a breeze, the only drawback is when I try to start playing the game… Vista would give me an error saying that the DOOM3 stopped working. And that [tag]Windows Vista[/tag] is fnding a Solution to the problem. I received a note that [tag]DOOM3[/tag] has compatibility Issues, that’s why it stopped working.. hrmmm.. well based on experience… Vista may have a problem recognizing the game. I know Doom3 is a bit old, it’s not their fault.
What to do:
When faced with compatility issues try these steps…(before panicking)
- Right click the application (.exe) file -> select properties
- Click compatibility tab
- In the drop down menu, choose Windows XP or whatever OS that program worked on before trying it on Vista. Check “Run this program as an administrator”
- Click Ok and Run the program again
this simple step usually fixes the compatibility problems for me.
One more thing, I just discovered this step recently CTRL+SHIFT+ESC… hehehe brings up the task manager quickly…
Using CTRL + ALT + DEL on Vista : pulls up a selection dialog which has options to lock the computer, switch user, log off, change a password, or start the task manager unlike in Windows XP that pulls up the task manager quickly
Doing research on it.. works on [tag]Windows XP[/tag] ,[tag] Windows Vista[/tag], [tag]Windows 2000[/tag].
