HEHEHE… getting pissed at [tag]Windows Vista[/tag]’s [tag]UAC[/tag] (User Account Control), because every time I try to install a program it would pop-up and prompt me for about a JILLION times.. hehhe… Well, not actually a JILLION times but a lot… It happened when I hard reset my O2 XDA IIi, so I had to re-install my favorite pocket pc programs/games since pocket pc application are small… installation is quick. Everytime I start a new application setup my laptop would act stupid and just freeze up, waiting for the UAC prompt to allow/deny which is annoying. Finally, disabled the UAC and went on with my day.
But that got me cracking up, so I looked for new ways to disable the UAC (that’s for annoying me!) and I found 3 ways to do it. The first one is of course, what I did, to complete my pocket pc installation woes.
Disabling UAC via Control Panel: Way #1
- Click Start
- Go to Control Panel.
- Go to User Account and Family settings
- Click the Add or remove user account option.
- Select your user account.
- Click the Go to the main User Account page option.
- Click the Change security settings option.
- Remove the check beside the Turn on User Account Control (UAC).
- Click OK.
- Restart the computer. BOOM all done.. hehehe
now to reverse it just in case you want the UAC back in action, do the same steps and put a check on Turn on User Account Control (UAC)Disabling UAC via MSCONFIG: Way #2
- Click Start
- Click Run. Type msconfig and click OK.
- Click the Tools tab.
- Click the Disable UAC.
- Click the Launch button.
- Close MSCONFIG.
- Restart the computer. KAPOW all done.. hehehe
To reverse the damage you did, do steps 1-3 then Click the enable UAC. then proceed to step 5-7
Disabling UAC via Registry: Way #3
- Click Start
- Click Run. Type regedit and click OK.
- Go to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System - Find the value, EnableLUA. Modify the value to 0.
- Click OK.
- Close the Registry Editor.
- Restart the computer. KABOOM all done.. hehehe
Now… blah, blah, blah.. same steps change EnableLUA value to 1.
